Russia is already feverishly preparing to host its first Winter Olympics and Para Olympics in 2014. Expectations are high and accommodation will be booking up fast in the Sochi Region of Krasnodar. Sitting on the black sea surrounded by the Caucasus mountains, the resort of Sochi was already known as a popular spa and summer destination for holiday makers, however in winter it has been a much quieter tourist spot. This is all of course set to change with the latest reports estimating investment in the games at £20 billion! The aim is to get Sochi not only up to world class standards for the Olympics but also to ensure it goes on to thrive as a popular ski resort attracting tourists from around the world.
